Donations to feed our physician trainees who are impacted by COVID-19
Meals4Healers, bagged and ready to go.

Many people have asked how to care for our physician trainees who are impacted by COVID-19 on the frontline. In an effort to do so and to support local restaurants, we launched a meal delivery initiative in March 2020 for trainees who are home in isolation as well as those who are displaced due to COVID-19. We recently relaunched the initiative in August 2021 in response to the surge of cases.

One donation of $20 will cover one (1) nutritious meal to our physicians-in-training. On a weekly basis, the GME office coordinates with Program Directors to deliver a "bundle of meals" to physician trainees who are impacted by COVID-19. To date, we delivered over 1,500 meals and we have raised over $30,000. We are so grateful to our previous local partners including Tavern on State, Roìa, Skappo, and August. Currently, we are working with Rawa.

Please visit Yale's giving page to donate. And, thank you for your generous and thoughtful offering as we look after our Yale and New Haven community.

Claudia-Santi F. Fernandes, an assistant professor in General Internal Medicine, is spearheading this initiative to deliver meals and may be contacted at with questions.

Dear Meals4Healers: During these difficult times, after a whole day of taking care of sick patients, I can't come back home to my family, some days are unbearable. Receiving meals from you is the best thing that happened to me since the beginning of this pandemic. I found a touch of beautiful kindness in the midst of disastrous circumstances. I want you to know that what you do is greatly appreciated and much much needed. You are fueling fighters, therefore you are fighting with us. Thank you very much, each and every one of you. God Bless You.

Oh my, we didn't expect so much food! Thank you so much for organizing this and delivering to us. Huge morale boost after a rough week!!
