Research and Innovation

Yale is leveraging its deep strengths in the biological sciences, engineering, modeling, and clinical sciences to drive breakthroughs in our fight against COVID-19. From new diagnostics and technologies to effective equipment, therapeutics, and a vaccine, researchers at Yale are working together to gain insights and innovate solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Areas under intense investigation and expansion include: understanding COVID-19’s clinical presentation and immunology, diagnostic tools, data-driven disease epidemiology, understanding disease transmission and viral pathogenesis, genetic tools and disease models, patient profiling and genomics, and the development of effective therapeutic interventions that leverage people and resources across the biomedical enterprise. Yale researchers are also responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. and in more than 30 countries around the world. Further, Yale researchers are addressing wellness and workforce through research on issues such as stress, mental health, palliative care, and peer support, as well as impacts on the elderly and health care workers. Taken together, these and other initiatives are yielding many new and evidence-driven practices in the battle against COVID-19.

Now and in the future, this body of knowledge is essential to our society’s ability to overcome this pandemic. We are grateful for your support of Yale’s research mission.
